Green is everywhere. Shopping malls have opened up eco friendly floors, hotels are racing for the eco friendly brand, actors are competing as to who is eco friendlier, large to small corporations are turning their processes green, greener and greenest. So you know, the trend is to be green. It is the latest fad and whether you are in for the cause or not if you are fashion conscious, you will have to adopt a green lifestyle! Though green is boring for many a youngster and only means rules and more rules, being green can actually be fun if you know the right way to do it.
Reduce, reuse and recycle. This is the mantra of a green lifestyle. Any one following a green lifestyle will tell you to reuse or recycle all the old stuff in your house. Now you might remember that old rule of fashion that manifests itself every once in a while: old is new! Take out all the old clothes you have stuffed in the attic and view them with a critical eye. Yes, the boyfriend jacket is back in vogue (probably never gone) and so is the garden party dress. Cool summer clothes that you have discarded for slinkier lycras can be put back on. There, you have already taken baby steps towards green lifestyle with these exciting new-old additions to you wardrobe.
This year fashion week held a green week showing the works of designers who are hundred percent eco friendly. So what did these designers have to showcase? The green designers produced garments made of hundred percent organic cloth or recycled cloth and patterns. Vegetable dyes have become the norm as well and this type of clothing is being accepted worldwide claiming to be more eco friendly than any garment you can imagine.
Make your green lifestyle known to your friends. Take them out shopping when you go scouting for the latest green products! Many people do not know of the great many things you can get in the eco friendly sections. Another tip for your reduce-reuse-recycle formula is to bring together all your friends and host a swapping party. Imagine a huge group of friends ready with all the wares they no longer need. Those felt curtains that do not go with one friend’s color scheme can be a huge plus to yours. All the clothes that your formally thin friend grew out of can be a boon to your wardrobe! And different people have different tastes and swapping can be fun because your friends might have just the thing you wanted and they didn’t!
